Evett TV

History

On 19th October1981 two partners Roy Evett and Stafford Pemberton acquired from Companies House a limited company by the name of Decksbroom Limited changing it's name to become Mach 1 Video Limited. The main nature of the business was the supply and rental of video movies. The business soon grew and the two partners decided to split the business in two and go their separate ways. Mach 1 Video Limited became Mach 1 Video (Wilmslow) Limited and another limited company Goldaid Limited was acquired from Companies House on 13th March 1985 and underwent a name change to Mach 1 Video (Handforth) Limited. This left the original company name freely available and on 24th February 1986 Mach 1 Video (Handforth) Limited became Mach 1 Video Limited. During this time the business had grown to become a chain of video rental libraries with outlets in Wilmslow, Handforth, Alderley Edge, Gatley, Heald Green and finally Congleton in 1988. It was after expanding the business to Congleton that Roy and son Terry Evett decided to become agents for Sky Television. Supplying and installing satellite television systems Mach 1 Video had entered the space age. It soon became apparent this side of the business could grow by offering terrestrial aerial installations as well as other satellite services. To do this we would need separate premises and a separate name. Aerial and Video Services was born in 1990 taking Roy Evett back to his apprenticeship days of fitting TV aerials and repairing television sets. The business thrived on customer recommendations for fast, reliable and courteous service at a fair price. Taking on a Tandy Dealership in 1991 brought an accessory range into the business second to none. Although Tandy closed their UK dealership network we continue to stock a wide range of audio video accessories to compliment our range of satellite and terrestrial television receiving equipment. Another name change came about on 29th March 1996 when it was decided to use the family name to front the business Evett Television Limited. Finally and sadly, after over 40 years in business and a decision to retire, the company has closed marking the end of an ere. Thank you all for your custom and support Terry.
